This article deals with the process of finding the right guitar and amplifier for your needs. If you already have a guitar and/or and amplifier, I would still suggest you take a read through this chapter to make sure that the guitar you have purchased will do the job you are expecting of it.
ACOUSTIC or ELECTRIC?
This is an “age-old” question. Should I go out and buy an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar or both? In order to answer this question, you will need to look at your needs and spending power. Let me explain:
Then
However
Then
An acoustic guitar is a wonderful instrument. It is many times, the first guitar a new player will get. Generally speaking, it is usually less expensive than a bottom-line electric guitar. It is a rather personal instrument that doesn’t need the attention that an electric guitar needs, to keep on playing correctly in tune. The electric guitar has issues with its Bridge, Saddles, Pickups, Fret wearing, etc. Again, your needs will probably dictate what guitar you will end up with. An electric guitar, on the other hand, is the soul of Rock & Roll music. It is the sound and pulse of Chuck Berry, Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Buddy Holly, all rolled into one. It will allow you to do many more things than an acoustic guitar. But, each has its place in your closet (if you can afford it.)
